Columbus at Detroit (11/28/10)

The Blue Jackets came to Detroit this evening for a rematch of Friday night’s game. Once again the goalies were Howard and Mason.

Mike Modano’s wrist injury turned out to be serious. He had to have surgery on Saturday to repair a severed tendon and he’s out of the lineup indefinitely. In the meantime Helm, Eaves and Hudler were all able to play and shouldn’t have to take turns sitting out for a while.

Friday night the Wings broke the Blue Jacket’s home winning streak and tonight they broke their road winning streak.

The Red Wings played very well. It took them a little while to get started but from the second period on they totally dominated even while killing off and extended 5 on 3 power play.

Kronwall, Helm and Filppula all scored even strength goals and Cleary scored an empty netter at the end to seal the deal.

Jimmy Howard had another superb game. There wasn’t much he could have done about either goal allowed.

The Red Wings are sure off to a great start this season. Let’s keep it going, guys!
