Hudler Attempts To Leave Red Wings; Hits Legal Snag

Jiri Hudler signed a two year, 10 million dollar (tax free) deal with the Moscow Dynamo last week. However the NHL is claiming that he was already a signed player since he had filed for arbitration last weekend. The Red Wings are hoping that the IIHF will not approve the transfer on those grounds.

This is a tough situation. I don’t want to lose Hudler, but if he doesn’t want to play in Detroit do we really want him there against his will? We’ll just have to wait and see. I’m hoping they can come to an arrangement where Hudler wants to stay in Detroit. He’s a great player and I’ve really enjoyed watching him over the years.
